POLK COMMUNITY STEPS TO HOPE

Blood cannot be manufactured or stockpiled and can only be made available through the kindness of volunteer donors. During this blood crisis, the Red Cross asks the country to roll up a sleeve to help ensure people in their communities receive the care they need. 

Make an appointment to give blood or platelets as soon as possible by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. From trauma victims and patients undergoing surgeries to individuals battling cancer and those with chronic illnesses, the demand for blood is constant and ever-present. Yet, the supply often falls short of meeting this critical need. 

In addition, this map allows users to quickly locate other nearby blood donation centers throughout the year and find qualified phlebotomists who can assist them in their donation process. It includes a map as well as a searchable table with contact information for each location. 

We hope that this map will make an impact in the lives of others in need of blood by: 

• Spreading awareness about the critical importance of blood donation 
• Eliminating the entry barrier of not knowing where to safely donate blood 
• Encouraging individuals to make a habit of donating blood
