Dusenbury Insurance opened its doors on South Trade Street in Tryon in 1975. Founded by Vernon Dusenbury Jr., his daughter Renae Dusenbury Waldman joined the agency in 1995 followed by son, Vernon Dusenbury III (Trey) in 2004. Upon Vernon's retirement in 2012, the agency ownership was succeeded by both Renae and Trey and became a 2nd-Generation Heritage Agency with Nationwide. Now an independent agency it is affiliated with Leavitt Elite Insurance Advisors representing Nationwide, Auto Owners, Progressive, Travelers, and many other companies' products. As it celebrates its 50th year of serving the area with continued local ownership, it is joined by long-term staff Veronica Pace and Alex Mondragon Dusenbury Insurance and has over 85 years of combined experience. Continuing the relationship-building by founder Vernon Dusenbury with integrity and compassion, today they pride themselves in continuing that tradition.
